We turn back time to John Glaser’s first blend, created at the beginning of the Compass Box adventure. Eleuthera, production of which stopped in 2005 due to a lack of necessary casks, is given a second lease of life. Might John have found his Proustian madeleine?

Limited edition of 12,018 bottles Profile: creamy, elegant. Notes of smoke, ash, iodine and beeswax. Aromas of citrus fruit, aromatic plants and dried peat. Followed by spices, vanilla and fruit.

Tasting note

  • Appearance : golden yellow with a green hue. Outstanding.
  • Nose : fresh, elegant. Smoke, ash and iodine (seaweed) appear alongside beeswax, citrus fruit and aromatic plants (sage, vervain). Dry peat gradually rises to the surface of the aromatic palette. It is not alone, for it is accompanied by spices (curry, pepper), white mint and camphor.
  • Palate : lively and creamy. Its vanilla, almost milky, attack has a remarkable creaminess. The mid-palate is fruity (pear) and honeyed (acacia). The pungency of the smoke gradually takes over, moving the palate towards more dryness and firmness.
  • Overall : long, rich. To a certain extent it reproduces the ash from the palate, offering us a delicious vanilla tart. Notes of rosemary mix with red fruits (raspberry). Next peat and smoke balance beautifully with other flavours from the gustatory palette. The retronasal olfaction is lemony and liquoricey. The empty glass is malty and slightly peaty.
