Luxardo is currently the best known brand in the world of maraschino liqueur. Produced from marasca cherries, this liqueur is a blend of a fruit distillate, with the stones, aged for two years in large casks, with honey and sugar. A speciality of the Dalmatia region, where it has been produced since the 17th century, this maraschino liqueur has been made by Luxardo since 1821, in Sardinia and then Padua in northern Italy. An essential ingredient of many cocktails, Luxardo Maraschino has become the leading maraschino liqueur.
