Made from 80% Massaretta, 15% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine boasts a flavour and aromatic palette that is simultaneously very open and very reserved. Designed to be aged, this wine is handvinified by Andrea Marcesini and needs to be aired for a long time in order to fully reveal its mineral character and all of its fruit, thereby projecting into the future, when it will reach perfect maturity.

Profile: fleshy, deep. With refreshing sharpness, black grapes are accompanied by red fruits (strawberry, raspberry, redcurrant).

Tasting note

  • Appearance : crimson-purple with violet glints.
  • Nose : fleshy, deep. Ever so slightly oxidative (black cherry), the opening is characterised by dried fruits and nuts (apricot, almond) and dark berries (blueberry, blackberry, blackcurrant). This is an invitation to journey deep into the heart of the region. With a deft, delicate hand, it progressively turns extremely mineral (pencil lead) and floral (lilac, reseda).
  • Palate : rich, fleshy. Lavished with particularly smooth, chocolatey tannins, the opening creates the impression of eating grape seeds. The mid-palate is underpinned by a very refreshing acidity. If you close your eyes, a white wine comes to mind. Suddenly, black grapes surge from deep within the flavour palette, accompanied by red berries (strawberry, raspberry, redcurrant).
  • Overall : long, silky. Its texture is evocative of a blood vine peach. It develops notes of Chinese ink and slate. Deliciously fruity (blackberry), it is also floral (carnation, peony) and has notes of compote (pear, greengage). The retro-nasal olfaction is marked by incense and mugwort. Having developed in the boom years after the Second World War, conventional agriculture is based on notions of yield.
