JURA Superstition Boite Metal

Single Malt, Scotland / Highlands-Jura 70cl Ref: 19870

The residents of Jura are known for their superstitions: “Never cut the peat before May”, “always roll the hay clockwise”... So what better way to celebrate this originality than by naming a malt after it? The result of a selection of the best single malts from the isle - some aged for up to 21 years - Superstition proudly bears the Ankh cross, which dates back to the times of the Egyptians and is considered a symbol of luck.

It reveals aromas of honey and pine, while the balance between the peated and unpeated notes comes from the bourbon casks. The finest, youngest and oldest (up to 21 years old) whiskies mix together in this mysterious bottle, in which every drop holds a different flavour.

Tasting note

  • Nose : With a great freshness, the nose is dominated by peat, malted barley and raisin, evoking images of an alluring fruitcake. It evolves with spices, particularly influenced by pepper.
  • Palate : Relatively full-bodied, the palate is marked by sherry and peat, with notes of dark chocolate, menthol and hazelnut.
  • Overall : The finish returns to the softness of the barley, with notes of candied orange seasoned with a pinch of salt.
The brand

The brand

Linked only to Islay by a mini-ferry, the distillery is probably one of the most isolated in Scotland. It’s therefore no surprise that its single malt is so easily identifiable, its isolation giving it its own character marked by heart-warming and exotic sensations. Only very lightly peated, Jura has a freshness of mentholated pear that goes hand-in-hand with its malty and salty notes in its 10 and 16 year old expressions. To compete with its neighbour Islay, Jura also began producing a very peaty single malt: Superstition. Find out more
