STROH

As Austria had no access to colonies in tropical regions, rum producers originally tried to recreate the rum taste. Originally referred to as Inländer-Rum ("domestic rum"), Stroh was first distilled in 1832 in St. Paul in Lavanttal in Carinthia, Austria. With this spirit, Sebastian Stroh started an Austrian success story that would continue for more than 180 years. At the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900, STROH was awarded for the "Grand Gold Medal". Today, STROH still is the leading spirits brand from Austria and is sold in more than 40 countries all over the world.
