Tasting notes
Nose : fine, distinguished. The nose opens with a subtle and exquisite fragrance of roses. As delicate as ever, it slowly becomes praline-scented, with roasted (coffee) and herbaceous (cut hay, ivy) notes. As it breathes, honeysuckle and hyacinth accentuate its deliciously heady nature. Spices and chillies gradually coat the aromatic palette.
Appearance : burnished gold with copper tinges.
Palate : rich, nuanced. Boasting the same complexity as the nose, it unfurls with mingled notes of honey (lavender), praline, cocoa, flowers (lily, iris) and fruit (Mirabelle plum, pear). The mid-palate is remarkably spicy (star anise, saffron). Its incredibly refined graininess is reminiscent of rice cakes. Then it moves into the shade of some lime blossom that exudes its gorgeous fragrance on a balmy June night.
Overall : long, balanced. Characterised by notes of violet-infused liquorice candy, it is wonderfully mouth-watering. Rich and roasted, it offers rum baba-like flavours. The retro-nasal olfaction is a thirst-quenching infusion of camomile and vervain. The empty glass is a faithful mirror of the elegance of the initial nose.
